Radiator plant - Peperomia albovittata (small)
Radiator plant - Peperomia albovittata is a compact, evergreen perennial succulent with deeply veined green, silver and purple-brown leaves and pinkish-red stems. Tiny green flowers may appear on long, thin red spikes in the spring.
Grow year-round as an indoor plant in bright indirect light. Water moderately when in growth, and mist regularly to maintain high humidity; water sparingly in autumn and winter.
The term ‘albovittata’ means ‘having white bands or stripes’. All members of the genus Peperomia are commonly known as radiator plants.
Size
SMALL - You will receive a healthy, live plant that is well-rooted in a 4cm diameter pot. Plant size is approximately 50mm to 70mm wide/deep by 30mm to 50mm tall.
Flowers
Peperomia albovittata produces slender, elongated inflorescences that look like greenish-white or cream "rat tails" or spikes. These unique, upright blooms lack showy petals and emerge on slender, reddish stalks during the spring and summer months
Growing Medium
Prefers well-drained soil, so a good, gritty indoor houseplant mix with plenty of drainage is ideal.
Humidity
Peperomia albovittata needs reasonable humidity most of the year. They thrive in terrariums and large glass jars so long as there is good ventilation and air movement. Alternatively, place in a shallow tray of water filled with glass marbles so the pot does not sit in the water. The evaporation provides the humidity required.
Temperature
Prefers an average temperature of 15 to 25 degrees Celsius.
Origin:
Peperomia albovittata is endemic to Ecuador
